I really enjoyed creating the active inspire presentation. It was fun to experiment with the different techniques of the board. This is one of the first times I was able to see how technology can be used to engage students in a critical thinking way. The technology allows the students to have hands on time. It can be used to introduce and reinforce the standard being taught. I think that students would like doing this and having it to refer to once they are at home.
One concern I have is the amount of time it took to create the lesson. As a teacher, time is limited. Yet, once it is created, it is ready to go. If several teachers collaborated to prepare lessons, it would definitely help.
Gale, you have an excellent idea in joining with your fellow teachers to create IWB lessons and then share. Also, don't forget that you don't have to build all of your lessons at one time. Set a goal of building 1, 2, 3, 4 -whatever a reasonable number of lessons for each semester for you - then overtime you would build your lesson library. Also, don't forget to visit the communities for your IWB. You can download other peoples lessons there and "tweak" them to suit your needs. You can also share the lessons you create there so other teachers could benefit from your expertise.
